November ATOS Happenings

News: November ATOS Happenings

The month has been busy in several ways including personal travel and ATOS efforts.

ATOS Radio

The ATOS Radio caretaker, Steve Worthington, reports that we are seeing continued use of the internet radio service. Work is continuing to optimize the server’s resources and address reports of data dropouts. The latest efforts appear to have solved a dropout problem. Steve reports we average somewhere between 20,000-30,000 hours of listening per month with about 500 unique listeners each day. The service is free and even allows visitors to select what they wish to hear. Visit http://www.atos.org/atos-theatre-organ-radio.

Endowment Fund Grant Program

The program’s Chairman, Michael Fellenzer, and the committee are working to finalize this year’s grant application and criteria, which should be posted on the website soon. Chapter’s needing financial support for their restoration efforts are urged to begin their plan development and application efforts by collecting the necessary bids to support their application. Photographs and diagrams of current and proposed changes are always of value in telling a needs story. When available this year’s application will be available at http://www.atos.org/program/endowment-fund.

Annual Convention CD

This year’s CD Producer, Mark Renwick, is busy finalizing production of this year’s commemorative recordings. Mark has now received all artists permissions. Actual production is planned to be completed in the next month.

2018 Annual Convention

Mark Herman and the Los Angeles Chapter’s Convention Committee have been busy finalizing the daily schedules for next summer’s gathering. The dates are from June 29 to July 3, 2018 with the convention at the Pasadena Hilton Hotel. Final details will be available in January-February ATOS Journal and on the ATOS website at http://www.atos.org/2018-pasadena-convention.

Annual Fundraising Campaign Has Begun

By now ATOS members should have received a letter of appeal and a donation envelop in which to provide monetary support to ATOS and its program efforts. The Nov-Dec issue of the ATOS Journal contains a listing of these programs and their contribution to theatre organ promotion efforts of ATOS. You can make your donation to ATOS using the website at http://www.atos.org/donations.

Other Activities

As the holiday period approaches, everyone is reminded of the many and varied live theatre organ music events that will be occurring. Please attend one or more and show your support to these many efforts to expand our listening audience.
